Hildegard von Bingen

A Hildegard diet and lifestyle keeps the bodily fluids in balance and the body healthy.

Hildegard von Bingen lived in the 12th century as an abbess in the German Benedictine monastery in Rupertsberg. She was one of the most important figures in European monastic medicine. As early as childhood she had the gift of foresight. This visionary gift gave her a deep knowledge of things in terms of sharing in the wisdom of God. In addition to her numerous theological writings, she also wrote two books about the healing powers of nature and the causes and treatments of diseases.

Hildegard von Bingen recognised early on the basic importance of a healthy diet for keeping people healthy. She always saw the whole person as a unity of mind, body and soul. Positive thoughts build up and promote healing, ensuring one’s health. Negative thoughts are destructive and lead to mental illness. Early on, Hildegard particularly appealed to the individual’s responsibility for himself and his body. A Hildegard diet and lifestyle keeps the bodily fluids in balance and the body healthy. Humans, as creatures of God, are at the centre of a cosmic order. Every single human being has an inherent original life force. This life energy results from the balance of power between mind, body and soul.

Today, we still produce a large number of Hildegard von Bingen’s remedies in-house by hand according to her recipes. We use the original medicinal wines – Malaga wine and Samos wine as a basis. The special thing about these healing wines is that they are light sultana wines and the natural sweetness of the sultanas acts like a medicine allowing the active plant substances to be absorbed into the body faster and more efficiently.
